MOUNT VERNON — Mary Jane McCann, 90, of Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Health Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born March 4, 1922, in Neenah, Wis., to the late George and Anna (Christianson) Yanggen.
Mary was employed at the Mount Vernon City Schools and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, John (Patricia) McCann of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Ann (Larry) Spearman of Mount Vernon and Janette (Kim) Jackson of Montgomery, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Scott (Jeanette) McCann, Amy McCann, Kevin (Debbie) Spearman, Lance (Karin) Spearman, Lisa (Andrew) Lovelady, Ryan (Lauren) Jackson, Brian (Sarah) McCann, Maggie (Jerrod) Hesson and Eric (Sharon) McCann; fifteen great-grandchildren, Ashley McCann, Tyler McCann, Taylor McCann, Olivia Spearman, Samantha Spearman, Morgan Spearman, Matthew Spearman, Aubrey Lovelady, Carly Lovelady, Zoe McCann, Olivia McCann, Max McCann, Jaden Hesson, Julianne Hesson and Connor McCann.
Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Joe” McCann; a son, George McCann; and a sister, Janet Mulivaney.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to Mount Vernon City Schools, St. Vincent de Paul School or Newark Catholic School.
