MOUNT VERNON — Rosella D. Majerczak, 83, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Wooster and Alpine Lake in Terra Alta, W.Va., passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon.
She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Martins Ferry, the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Diehl) Schweizer. Rosella graduated from Martins Ferry High School and received her bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University. She earned her master’s degree from Akron University. Rosella retired from the Wooster City Schools in 1990, after 25 years of teaching. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon and helped establish Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Deep Creek, Md. Rosella was very active in the Terra Alta Civic Club in Terra Alta, W.Va.
For 25 years, Rosella served as a summer camp counselor at Red Raider Camp in Geauga County, and loved spending time outdoors hiking and camping. One of her passions was helping and being around children.
Rosella is survived by her children, Doris Majerczak of Mount Vernon and Bill Majerczak of Watsonville, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Majerczak; and a twin sister, Regina Lazear of Dunnellon, Fla.
In addition to her parents, Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Majerczak, whom she was married to for 55 years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens near Wooster, followed by a luncheon at the church.
