MOUNT VERNON — Daniel Philip Turner, 58, of Morris Street, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Dec. 21, 1954, in Streator, ll., to John and Shirley (Fleming) Turner. Daniel was employed at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University as an Adjunct Instructor of Drama. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Mount Vernon Players. Daniel enjoyed fishing, reading and telling stories. But most of all he loved the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Paula (Comisky) Turner; his daughter, Samantha Turner of Boston, Mass.; his father, John Turner of Streator, Ill.; two brothers, Patrick (Robin) Turner of Streator, Ill., Michael (Vicki) Turner of Streator, Ill.; and his sister, Lisa (Kevin) Krofft of Streator, Ill.

Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Fleming) Turner.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A funeral Mass will be held Monday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, 203 Ohio 18 East, Streator, IL 61364, with the Rev. Father John C. Horton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Daniel Philip Turner.
