HOWARD — Carol Sivewright, 65, of Howard (Apple Valley) passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 10, 1947, to Russell Lovern Cluggish and Olive (Brown) Cluggish in Indianapolis, Ind.

Carol is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Chad (Brittney) Sivewright and grandson, Pendelton, of Mount Vernon; son, Jason (Jillian) Sivewright of Overland Park, Kan. Also surviving her are a brother, Roger Cluggish, of Indianapolis, Ind., a sister, Billie Heman, of Indianapolis Ind. and brother-in-law, Bill Huff, of Carmel, Ind.

Preceding her in death are her parents; and a sister, Laurel Ann Huff, of Carmel, Ind.

Carol was a lifelong public school teacher who, except for a short stint as an instructor at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, taught elementary and junior high art. For the past decade, she was employed by the North Fork School District where she worked with both elementary and junior high students. Carol’s passion was to teach and art appreciation was her focus. Her love for life in seeing the beauty and humor in everything, made her a gifted and exceptional teacher.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene Family Center. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to Pancreatic Cancer Research, Hospice of Knox County or Apple Valley Shepherd’s House.

The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Homes are assisting the Sivewright family with arrangements.
