NEWARK — A Celebration of Life for Gwendolyn R. “Gwen” Fargo of Newark will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 42 E. Church St., Newark, with Pastor Charles Smith celebrating. A private burial service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Gwen, a parishioner of the Second Presbyterian Church, died at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. She was born in Mount Vernon, to the late Earl and Grace (Hoovler) O’Donnell. Gwen earned her nursing degree from the Mansfield General Hospital Nursing School and worked in the maternity ward at the Newark Hospital and later was the office nurse for Dr. Benjamin Zolo where she worked until his retirement. Following her time as a nurse, Gwen earned her real estate license and worked as a realtor with Woeste.

She was a longtime member of Monday Talks and Moundbuilders Country Club where she enjoyed many years of golf and social outings. For 50 years, Gwen was a dedicated member of the 20th Century Club, spending countless hours working on their Flyers, Pro-Am Golf outings, Bazaars, and lending a hand no matter the task or time commitment all to benefit Camp O’Bannon. She cherished the many friendships formed from 20th Century and loved being a part of their “tappers.”

Gwen is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Donn Alspach of Granville; her nieces and nephews, David (Helaine) Alspach, Mark (Denise) O’Donnell, Erin (Joe) Noss, Susan (Steve) Mulhall, Jill (John) Stankiewicz, and Jennifer (Matt) Maxwell; 14 great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Linda O’Donnell of Millersburg; sisters-in-law, June and Lois Fargo and their families of New York State; and many longtime friends.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Harland Fargo; her brother, Paul O’Donnell; and infant siblings Harold and Harriet O’Donnell.

The family requests that memorials be made to a cause very dear to Gwen, Camp O’Bannon; or the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.
