NEWARK — Grace M. Cramer, 89, passed away Jan. 5, 2013, around 1:10 in the afternoon, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Cramer was born in Newark, Ohio, on Aug. 25, 1923. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ina and John Adams; and her loving husband, the Rev. John T. Cramer.

Mrs. Cramer was married to her husband, Rev. John T. Cramer, on Nov. 11, 1945, in Newark, and they were married for 63 years. Grace graduated from Newark High in 1942 and worked as a secretary at the Ferris factory for several years after graduation. Later, she worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. Grace also did volunteer work at several churches; once working as a teacher’s aide at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newark.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Grace loved nature and enjoyed gardening, walking, cooking and baking, reading and loved visiting with her children and grandchildren.

Our beloved mother Grace is survived by her daughter, Toni Ann (Roy) Star of Mount Vernon; daughter, Jane Louise Ables of Mount Vernon, grandson, John T. Ables; daughter, Karen Lynn (James) Duffy of Pataskala, granddaughter, Holly (Matthew) Benson of Groveport, and great-granddaughters, Rio and Maya Benson; granddaughter, Barbie (Mike) McNabb of Reynoldsburg, great-grandson, Brody James, great-granddaughter, Makenzi Lynn, stepgrandsons, Michael and Mason McNabb; and son, Thomas Andrew Cramer of Newark, granddaughters, Ashley Conner and Brittany Cramer.

Our mother was a sweet, gentle woman who had a loving heart and a kind soul. She encouraged those who needed someone to uplift them and she always said something hopeful and encouraging that would uplift their spirits. Mom was a strong woman of good Christian character and loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Memorial services for Grace M. Cramer will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Reynoldsburg Church of The Nazarene, 1340 Crest St., Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with Pastor Marty Dennis officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
