SPARTA — Grace E. Stinehelfer, 93, of Sparta, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 15, 2013, at Morrow Manor in Chesterville.

She was born July 1, 1919, in Fulton to the late William and Alta (Coleman) Burson.

A lifelong caregiver, she worked for 35 years as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital in Mount Vernon, retiring in 1984. Grace was a member of Sparta Christian Advent Church and loved animals. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ as well as attending garage sales.

Grace was indeed a woman of “grace,” who epitomized sweetness. Kind and caring, with her warm smile she was one whom you couldn’t help but to notice.

She endured the passing of many of her immediate family members. Those preceding her in death include her husband, Gerald “Bus” Stinehelfer in 1987; sons, William Springer in 1997, Gerald “Sonny” Stinehelfer Jr. in 2005; daughter, Eileen (Maynard) Sears in 2010; brother, Chrisset Miller; and sisters, Edith Belcher and Ruby Casto. Through it all she overcame and remained warm and tender even though broken hearted.

She is survived by grandchildren, Kelly Simms (Brian Ballard) of Fulton, Jennifer Springer (Brian Przeracki) and Allison Springer (Mike Durst) all of Mount Vernon; three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the funeral home, P.O. Box 238, Sunbury, OH 43074 to assist with final expenses.
