MOUNT VERNON — Jennifer K. “Jenny” Deboard, 65, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at MedCentral in Mansfield.

Jenny was born Sept. 11, 1947, in Knox County, was a 1965 graduate of East Knox High School, and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She had been employed for six years at the former Chattanooga Glass Co. in Mount Vernon, and retired after 21 years’ employment at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center.

Jenny was a member of the Amity-Apple Valley Baptist Church. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the AMVETS and the Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Ladies of the Moose at Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, James R. Deboard; her sons, James M. Deboard and John H. (Deb) Deboard, both of Mount Vernon; sisters, Ann Jordan of Bellville and Vicky Richards of Mount Vernon; brothers, Donald “Sonny” (Bert) Burson of Bellville and Biff (Susan) Smithhisler of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Jack (Carolyn Carpenter) Deboard and Jerry Deboard; sisters-in-law, Joanne Deboard and Janice Moreland; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friends, Georgie Palmer and Marie Poe. Jenny was preceded in death by her mother, Lela Smithhisler; stepfather, Carl Smithhisler; father, Roscoe Burson; stepmother, Lena Burson; sister, Sandy Porter; and brother, Tom Burson.

Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
