MOUNT VERNON — Richard Denver Bayless, 82, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Richard was born May 9, 1930, in Newport, to George and Mary Bayless.
He owned his own concrete construction business, retiring in 1982. Richard enjoyed hunting and working on automobiles.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Shirley (Mawer) Bayless; children, David Bayless, Donna Monroe, Joyce Gunthrie, Carolyn Williamson, Sandy Bayless and Marilyn Bayless; stepchildren, Chuck, Kevin and Lisa; 15 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard; sisters, Audrey, Edith, Mildred; sister-in-law, Barbara Byrd; best friends, Candi Biddle and Diane Huffman; and his faithful canine companion, CoCo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Kenneth; sisters, Bertha, Helen, Olive and Mary; and grandson, Jason Newton.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Private burial will be in Amity Cemetery at a later date.
