MOUNT VERNON — Harry William “Bill” Rousseau, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at the Emeritus at HillenVale after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Belle Vernon, Pa., to the late Harry W. and Rose (Wehry) Rousseau.
Bill led a full and happy life. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, he spent his time hunting, fishing, golfing and visiting with his children and grandchildren. Bill was always involved in the community. He was a member of the Elks Club and Glee Club of Mount Vernon. Bill was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where he served in the church choir and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, helping to provide food baskets and clothing for the poor. Bill was an accomplished musician and was the church organist for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for eight years and Christ the Prince of Peace in Ford City, Pa., for over 31 years. He coached high school golf, roller skating and little league baseball. Bill was a vital and important part of the lives of his children. He was always there for them no matter what the problem. He never missed a graduation, softball game, baseball game, basketball game, swim meet, orchestra recital or glee club performance. Words simply cannot express what a wonderful father he was. We were truly blessed to have you to love, guide and help us.
He is survived by his five children, Pamela (Dr. Charles) Katzenberg of Tucson, Ariz., Deborah Brown of Mount Vernon, Sandra Daubenmier of Mount Vernon, Kimberly (Joseph) Pointer of Streetsboro, and Gregory (Vicky) Rousseau of Morgantown, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and Ruth Falsetti, of Oakmont, Penn. with whom he had a special, loving relationship for 15 years.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dorie” A. Ponta, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1950; and a sister, Ora-Jean Rousseau.
