ZANESVILLE — Donna Marie (Armstrong) Porter, 93, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Forest View Healthcare Center in Zanesville after a short illness.

Donna was born in Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio, to the late Channing and Anna Margaret (Lifer) Armstrong on June 24, 1919. She married the late Ralph Earl Porter on Dec. 6, 1939. Donna was a homemaker, Red Cross volunteer, accomplished seamstress, garden club member and longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (David) Stoneburner of Zanesville, Rebecca (Jim) Guthrie of Chester, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Steve (Wendy) Ashby and Greg (Kelly) Ashby of Zanesville, Debra Athey of Morgantown, W.Va., R. David Porterfield of Huntington, W.Va., James P. (Misaki) Guthrie of Princeton, N.C., Jessica (Greg) Wade of Midlothian, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Jordan and Aaron Ashby, Andrew, Madison and Benjamin Ashby, Jei, William and Elizabeth Guthrie, Margaret and Jackson Wade; three stepgrandsons; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Earl Porter; her daughter, Linda Kay Porterfield; two brothers, Dawson Luther Armstrong, Paul Armstrong; and her sister, Eileen Dial Blamer.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, and one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held n Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., with Pastors Mark Wildermuth and Arthur C. Lund officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
