MOUNT VERNON — Gordon Cole, 87, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 21, 1929, in Birkenhead, England, to the late George and Eleanor (Pimberton) Cole. Gordon was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springhill, Fla. He spent the majority of his career in filmmaking and TV. Gordon managed Thames TV Big Band and was a member of Stage, Screen and Radio. He was also in the Royal Navy in England.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wanda (Looney) Cole; a stepson, Keith (Tyanna) Hughes of Howard; sisters, Dorothy Kendricks and Gloria Shaw, both of England; nephews, Steve and Michael Cross and Bruce and Ian Kendricks; brothers-in-law, Carl (Kaylene) Looney, Chet (Mary Jo) Looney and Ron (Kelly) Looney; sisters-in-law, Phoebe Schoonover, Maebelle (Don) Mowery and Mary Colopy.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gordon will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of services on Saturday. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements for the Cole family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gordon’s name to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
