DELAWARE — Joan Gaumer Sanford, 84, of Delaware passed away early Thursday morning, Feb.. 7, 2013, at the Arbors of Delaware.
She was born June 13, 1928, in Mount Vernon, to Paul and Aurice (Sevits) Gaumer. She was a 1947 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and worked from graduation until 1964 as an operator/supervisor at the Mount Vernon Telephone Co. On Aug. 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, Robert, with whom she later co-authored several books on collecting glassware. The most recent publication was by Schiffer Publishing in 2003 entitled “Victorian Glass Novelties.”
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Robert “Bob”; brother-in-law, Larry Sanford of Johnstown; nieces, Nicki Skipper of Vermont, Susan Sanford of Massachusetts and Kelly Taylor of Dublin; nephew, Steve Mellette of Key West, Fla.; cousins, Lloyd Gaumer Jr. of Mount Vernon and Jane Hoffman of Centerburg.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware.
