MARTINSBURG — Searl E. Wilkin, 97, of Martinsburg, passed away Feb. 10, 2013, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born April 29, 1915, in St. Louisville to the late Grover Cleveland and Blanche (Smith) Wilkin. Searl retired in 1977 from Licking Rural Electric after 34 years with the company. He was also a longtime member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his son, Ronald F. Wilkin of St. Louisville; a daughter, Janice Kunkel of Mount Vernon; brother, Willard “Buddy” Sheley of Newark; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Searl was preceded in death by his wife, Neva, in 1992; three sisters, Ruth Kennedy, Helen Parker, Martha Durig.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.
