MOUNT VERNON — Marcel R. Boucher, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away Feb. 12, 2013, at Country Court Nursing Center surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Arnold, Pa., and was the son the of the late Marcel R. and Minnie (Ewing) Boucher Sr.

Marcel was a member of the Community Bible Church in Mt. Liberty. He retired from PPG after 29 years with the company. When PPG closed in Mount Vernon, they moved to Burkburnett Texas. When he retired from PPG, they moved to Denton, Texas. They resided in Texas for a total of 25 years. Marcel enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and fast and slow pitch softball. He delighted in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary E. (Sindlinger) Boucher; seven children, Michael Boucher of Mount Vernon, Jeff (Norma) Boucher of Mount Vernon, Steve (Dixie) Boucher of Howard, Sue (Loren) Reed of Columbus, Dawn (Bruce) Giehl of Fredericktown, Mark (Nina) Boucher of Mount Vernon and Michelle (Jack) Hamilton of Centerburg; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Gary (Barbara) Boucher of Mason; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Boucher of Worthington.

Marcel was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Jack and Daniel Boucher; four grandchildren, April and Julia Giehl, Travis Boucher and Jack Hamilton III.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. at Colonial City Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Whisner, The Rev. Gary Boucher and Pastor Nathan Pierpont officiating. Private burial will be held in Mound View Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the arrangements for the Boucher family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcel’s memory to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
