MOUNT VERNON — Viola Spearman, 87, of Green Valley Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Columbus to the late Julius and Elizabeth (Ramsey) Erckert.

Viola belonged to the Mansfield Retirees, Fredericktown Senior Citizens and the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Ann) Spearman of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Sandra (Donnie Lones) Trowbridge of Newark; four grandchildren, Kevin (Debbie) Spearman, Lance (Karin) Spearman, Barry Trowbridge and Lori (Eric) Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Olivia and Samantha Spearman, Morgan and Matthew Spearman, Lyndsee and Braeden Trowbridge, Ashlee Browning, Kaylee Trowbridge and Emilee McAlpine; two great-great-grandchildren, Lanie Keaser and Addyson Browning; a brother, Julius Erckert of Columbus; and a sister, Elizabeth Henson of Asheville.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill Spearman (2008); and a sister, Martha Harris.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery.
