MOUNT VERNON — Elmer Lane Secrest, 93, of Mount Vernon, passed away Feb. 26, 2013, at Country Court Nursing Center.

He was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Senecaville, to the late Raymond and Laverna (Lane) Secrest.

Elmer graduated from Senecaville High School in 1937 and then from Bradley University in 1947. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. for two years and in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

He retired after 40 years as a watchmaker with the last 20 years of his career with Wise Jewelers. Elmer was a member of Mulberry St. United Methodist Church.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eileen Secrest; his children, Jane (Gary) Weaver of Gahanna, Sarah (Dave) Kolarik of Grove City and David (LaVern) Secrest of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alaire Danaher and Phyllis Lake.

Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. at Senecaville United Methodist Church, 206 High St., Senecaville, OH 43780. Friends may call Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Senecaville Cemetery.

The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home is handling the funeral services for the Secrest family.
