MOUNT VERNON — Warren Delbert Henthorn Sr., 91, of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his caring family.

He was born April 21, 1921, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to the late William Elsworth and Allie Ethel (Ruble) Henthorn.

Warren worked as a farmer, then for Henthorn Painting and Decorating. He later worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., for many years. He loved country living on the farm and enjoyed restoring old Farmall tractors.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Harrison, Gilbert, Richard, Cleetice and Camden Henthorn.

Warren is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rowena V. (Purdy) Henthorn; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Morris) Carper; a son, Warren D. (Rebecca) Henthorn Jr.; grandsons, Shawn (Rachel) Henthorn, Don and David Atherton; great-granddaughters, Toni and Jimmi Henthorn; great-grandsons, Zane and Gabriel Atherton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A private graveside service will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214; or the American Diabetes Association, 471 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215 in Warren’s memory.
