MOUNT VERNON — R. Russell Burris, 52, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 4, 1960, in Mount Vernon to Robert L. Burris and Patsy E. (Johnson) Campbell. Russell was a member of the Elks Lodge, a longtime blood donor for the American Red Cross and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Patsy E. Campbell of Mount Vernon; his father, Robert Burris, daughter, Christy Burris and a stepdaughter, Michelle Perdue, all of Columbus; brother, Gary (Pam) Burris of Huntington, Ind.; three sisters, Michelle (Charles) Metcalfe of Mount Vernon, Jayne (Steve) Miller of Eastlake and Cathy (David) Strauch of Crestline; and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Campbell in 2007.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Freedom Center in Mount Vernon.
