MOUNT VERNON — Naomi Clayborne, 86, of Mount Vernon, met her Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 21, 2013, following her courageous battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Russell County, Va., on Aug. 29, 1926, to Carl McKinley Taylor and Doshia (Compton) Taylor. She was a devoted and loving wife of Paul Clayborne for more than 54 years, until his passing in 1998. Naomi was a loving mother of six children, eight grandchildren and two generations of great-grandchildren totaling 14.

Naomi was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and also attended and supported the Mogen David Synagogue.

She is survived by her three daughters and three sons, Serita (Roger) Harris, Rabbi Freda Doshia (James) Parrott and Alethea (Scott) Gallogly, all of Mount Vernon; and Bill Clayborne of North Carolina, Claude Clayborne of Florida and Warren Clayborne of Mount Vernon.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, located at 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. A private family graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Jerry Moore of Grace Fellowship Church, Utica, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Naomi’s honor to Hospice of Knox County, 17770 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
