MANSFIELD — Violet Jean Oberlander, 86, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

The daughter of Louis Alfonzo and Marian Isabelle (Craven) Schnitzer, Violet was born May 18, 1926, in Mansfield. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School.

She is survived by two sons. James (Debra) Oberlander of Mansfield and Steven (Brenda) Oberlander of Sunbury; two daughters, Cynthia Simmering of Lexington and Nancy (Gene) Hale of Mount Gilead; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lois (Melvin) Simmons of Cincinnati.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home, where the funeral will follow at 10 am. The Rev. Andrew Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to First English Lutheran Church or MedCentral Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
