MOUNT VERNON — Edith E. Wise, 93, of Crooked Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Mount Vernon, to the late Charles and Lillian (Dougherty) Blair. Edith retired in 1976 after 25 years of owning and operating Wise LP Gas with her late husband, Charles Wise. She was a member of the Knox Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Fredericktown First Baptist Church, Tan and Toil Garden Club; and a charter member of the Seedsowers of Danville.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Karen) Wise of Mount Vernon, Ronald (Tracy) Wise of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Susan (Brian) Hogg of Fredericktown, Chris (Cherise) Wise of Powell, Ashley (Alan) Huffman of Mount Vernon, Andy (Kelly) Hagelman of Mason; 11 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Evan and Brandon Hogg, Gwen, Luke, Matt and Kristen Wise, Jim, Kate and Elizabeth Hagelman and Lily Huffman; and a brother, Ed Blair of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wise (1995); two sisters, Jeanette Neighbarger, Mary Parker; and a brother, Charles Blair.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. Pastor Stan Ratliff will be officiating. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held Friday at 5 p.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
