MOUNT VERNON — Lucette “Lucy” M. Starnes, 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Thetford-Mines, Quebec, Canada to the late Alfred and Leona (Bernard) Mercier.
Lucy retired in 1984, from Weyerhaeuser in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, feeding the birds and playing cards. Lucy was a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Louis) Urbano of Centerburg and Joyce (Chris) Marchand of Bokeelia, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christi (Thomas) Baldwin, Kim (Derek) Lannoy and Stacy (Jacob) Modra; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Baldwin and Kyleigh Lannoy.
Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Starnes; a daughter, Barbara Smith; and a brother, Paul Mercier.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
