MOUNT VERNON — Hazel C. McCready Caughenbaugh, 91, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

Hazel was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., and lived in Metropolitan Chicago, Southeast Michigan and Mount Vernon.

She was a faithful and active Christian wherever she lived. Hazel took great pride and pleasure in her home and family, their activities and accomplishments. She was a great inspiration to her children throughout their lives

Hazel was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon, a member of Jefferson Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, St. Clair Shores, Mich., had a 26-year career as a top earning residential real estate agent in Metropolitan Detroit and participated in the “Fun Bunch” luncheon group in Knox County.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Allen E. Caughenbaugh of Mount Vernon; sister, Shirley (John) McEvoy, San Jose, Calf.; children and stepchildren, Georgine Simross, Walbridge; George (Bonnie) Stone, Howard; Peggy (John) Tegel, Joliet, Ill.; Craig (Dorothy) Stone, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; Keith (Heather) McCready, Chicago, Ill.; Karen (Philip) Parrillo, Chicago, Ill.; Frankie (Doris) Caughenbaugh, Waco, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, George A. Stone Jr.; husband, Donald McCready; parents, William C. and Clara Coffel, brother, William Coffel; and great-grandson, Seth Beeler.

Friends may call Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
