MOUNT VERNON — Doris Rosalie Harris, 87, of Mount Vernon, passed away, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Centerburg Pointe.
She was born June 5, 1925, in Mount Vernon, to the late George and Cleo (Poland) Graham.
Doris was a housewife for many years and enjoyed raising her two children and watching her grandchildren grow. In her spare time she loved working in her amazing flower gardens and she received many compliments about them from golfers teeing off nearby. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and collecting porcelain dolls. She and her husband “Moe” enjoyed traveling around the country, especially out west. They enjoyed golf as well and lived on a golf course for many years.
She is survived by her son, Donald Harris of Howard; a daughter, Melody (Phil) Hatfield of Delaware; four grandchildren, Lisa Atchley, Tammy Hatfield, Greg (Angie) Hatfield, Jeffrey Harris; a brother, Harold Graham; and seven great-grandchildren.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 wonderful years, Dwight “Moe” Harris; two brothers, Richard and Robert Graham; and a daughter -in- law, Teresa Harris.
The family will observe calling hours Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St. Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Brother Steve Andrews. Burial will take place after the funeral service at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
