HOWARD — Dr. Elvin C. Feltman Jr., of Howard, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, in Columbus.

Elvin was born July 22, 1925, in Shiloh N. J. to Elvin and Ruth (Watson) Feltman Sr.

The oldest of four children, Elvin began a life of hard work, at a very young age. He worked for several years as a Seventh-day Adventist minister, then in his 30’s went back to school to become a Dentist. In addition to his dedication to providing excellent dental care, Elvin was very active in several professional, church, and community organizations.

Elvin served as past President of the Ohio Academy of General Denistry, member of the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, National Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Dentistry International, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and was Chairman or participated in numerous committees of these organizations. Over a number of years, he served in several different church leadership positions and was very active with Habitat for Humanity. Elvin was a past President of the Milan, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Advisory Board for EHOVE Vocational School, and after he retired, worked as a consultant inspecting dental offices.

Elvin is survived by his sons, David Feltman of Calif.; John (Karen) Feltman of Mount Vernon; and Don (Becky) Feltman of Va.; his stepchildren, Sandra Richards of Mount Vernon; Jayne (Dr. James) Todd of Ga.; Captain Alan (Marina) White of Tenn.; a sister, Esther Smith of Calif.; a brother, Wilmer Feltman of Ark.; and grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, and Justin Feltman; Barbara Richards Carroll; Missy Todd Bowlin; Carrie Todd Patrick; Tim Todd, Abigail and Sam White; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillian Feltman; second wife, Icyle Feltman; and brother, Jim Feltman.

Friends may call Sunday at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main Street, Mount Vernon from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service at the same location, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Springer and Pastor Fred Shoemaker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elvin’s name to Habitat for Humanity 201 North Main St. Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
