MOUNT GILEAD — Marcia Jo (Shoults) McCracken Riggleman, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center from complications of an infection. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Marcia was born Jan. 12, 1952, to James and Evelyn (Davis) Shoults, who survive in Mount Gilead. She graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1970, and then from Bowling Green State University in 1973 with a business teaching degree. She started teaching at the Knox County Career Center, and was there for 22 years. From there, she taught at North Central State, Highland High School, Upper Sandusky High School, and finally landed at Northmor High School in Galion. She retired from Northmor in 2009.
On Dec. 23, 1978, Marcia married David McCracken, and he preceded her in death April 28, 1994. After David passed away, she was introduced to a friend’s brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Riggleman. They were married July 15, 1995, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead, where they were both members.
Marcia’s loves of her life were her daughters, Laura (Matt Fiant) and Molly McCracken; and their children, Kasey and James Fiant, Hayleigh Brown and Allyssa Pierce.
In addition to her parents, husband, daughters and grandchildren, Marcia is survived by two brothers, Robert Shoults of Mount Gilead and Richard Shoults of Arizona; her aunts, Elizabeth Davis of Marion and Harriet (Howard) Gompf of Cardington; her stepson, Steve (Wendi) Riggleman, and daughter, Alexis, of Newark; her niece, Kadie-Marie (Shoults) Burks; nephews, Frank Shoults of Cincinnati and Chad Shoults; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Don and Mary Sue Riggleman of Newark, Dick and Becky Riggleman of Toledo, and Jim and Pam Riggleman of Fredericktown; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours for Marcia will be today, April 19, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in Westfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to be put in a savings account for the grandchildren.
