GAMBIER — Rick Gaumer, 65, of Gambier, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 6, 1948, in Mount Vernon, and was the son of the late Williard R. “Bid” and Mildred Jeanne (Payne) Gaumer. Rick was a former member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie (Barton) Gaumer; his daughter, Lee (Tyler) Hitzfield of Fredericktown, and a son, Rich Gaumer of Gahanna; grandson, Andrew Long; a granddaughter, Adriana Long; special niece, Erin (Kasey) Reeves of Alexandria; four brothers, Steve (Sonja) Gaumer and Brian Gaumer, both of Mount Vernon, Jeff (Karen) Gaumer of Newark, Mike (Carrie) Gaumer of Fredericktown; a sister, Kathy (Jim) Denuit of Mount Vernon; special friends, Larry McGinnis, Glenn Long, Dick McCluskey; and his dogs, Weezie, Buckie and Ginger.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
