NEWARK — A funeral liturgy for Lawrence “Larry” Krempel, 90, of Newark, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, 126 N. Main St., Utica, with the Rev. Stephen A. Metzger as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Mount Vernon.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.

Larry died April 26, 2013, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Mount Vernon, to the late John J. and Helena (Berg) Krempel. Larry was a member of Church of the Nativity, Utica, and a World War II Army/Air Corps veteran. He was active in the Northridge school district and past president of Northridge Athletic Boosters and Homer PTO. Larry loved his family, farmed most of his life and enjoyed fishing. He was retired from American Freight System.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theresa A. (Wade) Krempel of Newark; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence Jr. and Barbara Krempel of Phoenix, Ariz., Richard and Kimberly Krempel of Sidney, Joseph and Robin Krempel of Pataskala, Louis and Martha Krempel of Columbus, Ind., David and Toni Krempel of Pataskala; daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Richard Hurps of Newark, Anita and John Taulbee of Fairfield, Laura and Gary Ellis of Granville, Mary Jane Pribonic of Mount Vernon; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, James and Roberta Krempel of Wooster; sister, Veronica Dezse of Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Leo Krempel; sisters, Helen Mills, Frances Umphryes, Margaret Chester, Mary Shaffer and Agnes Hawkins; and one grandson.
