MOUNT VERNON — Norma Jean Fawcett, 86, of East High Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Canton, with her family by her side.

She was born May 1, 1926, in Rinard Mills, Ohio, to the late Harry and Lucy (Morris) Payne. Norma Jean was employed at Chattanooga Glass. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Page of Massillon; three grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Payne and Buster Payne, both of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents, Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. “Pudge” Fawcett; her stepson, Mark Fawcett; and her sister, Edna Butt.

A graveside service will be held today, May 2, beginning at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
