MOUNT VERNON — Encil Mills, 85, of Old Mansfield Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital in Palliative Care.

He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Encil R. and Thelma (Magganetti) Mills. Encil was a 1946 graduate of Danville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated Mills Milling Service. Encil was a trustee for Morris Township for 12 years, a member of Thrall Lodge 170 F&AM and the American Legion of Danville. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty (DeVore) Mills; three daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Stricker of Mount Vernon, Brenda (Ron) Them of Dublin, Andy (Tom) Harb of Dublin; four grandchildren, Allyson (Ryan Spencer) Stricker, Scott (Stacy) Savage, Matt (Lindsey) Them and Natalie (Tom) Burbacher; two stepgrandchildren, Sarah Harb and Tom Harb; seven great-grandchildren, Daniel Stricker, Brevin, Tate, Boston and Baylor Savage, Nathan Harding and Drew Burbacher.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Mills; three sisters, Jane Sinclair, Sue Joyce Awwiller, Linda Wise; and an infant sister.

Friends may call Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. The family will observe a private graveside service in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Knox Community Hospital, 1330 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
