WALHONDING — Edward “Ed” Organ, 72, of Van Winkle Road, Walhonding, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Columbus Alzheimer’s Care Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1940, in Delaware, Ohio, to the late D. Wray and Chloe (Stevens) Organ. Ed previously worked at Plaza 71 and Stevens Pontiac in Fredericktown. He enjoyed creating stained glass, target shooting, car racing and white water rafting. Ed was a member of the NRA and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Dee (Dickinson) Organ; his children, Angela (Dave) Bennett of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tammy (Dave) Hill of Mount Vernon, Cheryl (Roger) Starmer of Mount Vernon, Ed (Teresa) Organ of Grove City, Mark (Crystal) Freeland of Cincinnati, Stephen Freeland of Salem, Ore., and Vince C. Freeland of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael Ray (Elaine) Organ of Columbus, Stephen (Jane) Organ of Mount Vernon and James David (Katherine) Organ of Mount Vernon.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Justin Organ; and a stepson, Tom Freeland.

Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1010 Beech St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Bladensburg Cemetery. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Edward “Ed” Organ.
