MOUNT VERNON — Margaret L. Moreland, 60, of Mount Vernon, passed away May 23, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 29, 1952, in Mount Vernon, to Dwight E. and Mary L. (Newton) Hartsook.

Margaret was the owner and operator of Newton and Moreland Ceramics and Coins.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ellis “Butch” Moreland; two children, Lori (Eli D.) Bennett and J.R. (Jill) Moreland, both of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, A. J. and Travis Hurt, Ana, Rea, and Sara Bennett, and Sabrina and Brittany Moreland; and her mother, Mary L. Hartsook of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dwight E. Hartsook.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Margaret will be held Tuesday, at 6 p.m., at South Vernon United Methodist Church with The Rev. Robert Alexander officiating. Friends may call Tuesday at the church from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to Hospice of Knox County.
