MOUNT VERNON Otis Lee Lester, 71, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 3, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 4, 1941, in Grundy, Va., to the late Thurman and Ada (Helton) Lester. Otis retired in 2002 from Amerigas Propane Co. in Mansfield after 23 years of service. In his retirement years he liked to wood work, watch Westerns and play poker with his family and friends. He was very involved with his grandchildren and actively attended church. Otis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cora Sue (Madison) Lester; whom he married Jan. 27, 1961, at the Kenton County Court House in Covington, Ky. He is also survived by his children, Allen (Susan) Lester of Mount Vernon, Mike (Lisa) Lester of Mount Vernon and Michele (Todd) Leasure of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Dillon (Erin Wright) Lester, Joshua Lester, Blake Hunt and Jacob Leasure; two brothers, Larry (Sue) Lester, Robert (Marie) Lester; and a sister, Linda Lester. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Burgess; and a brother, Willie Lester. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
