MOUNT VERNON — Patricia “Pat” (Wells) Hamon Arbogast Ruggles passed away unexpectedly early morning Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Knox Community Hospital. She was 39 going on 82.

She was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Mount Vernon to parents, Delbert and Dorothy (Purbaugh) Wells, and was graduated from Mount Vernon High School. Pat had a tremendous work ethic and still held a job less than two months ago. Earlier in life, she was employed by Therm-O-Disc in Mansfield and General Industries in Bellville. Pat had a passion for antiquing and enjoyed her most recent jobs at Farley & Moore Antiques and Mid-Ohio Antiques.

In her younger years she loved to bowl and golf. More recently she enjoyed spending free time playing bingo, the lottery and other games of chance. Pat will be remembered as a strict but kind-hearted mother, aunt and grandmother. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and AMVETS Memorial Post 95, both in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dixie and Gerald Mooney of Mount Vernon, Debbie Banks of Martinsburg, Shirley and Joe Foss of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Connie Arbogast of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry and Connie Wells of Mount Vernon; a brother-in-law, Tony Varlos; an honorary daughter, Toni Fox; Marvin Hamon (father to Dixie, Debbie, Marva and Shirley); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ruggles; Neal Arbogast (father to Connie); a daughter, Marva Hollar; sons-in-law, John Hollar and Charlie Banks; a granddaughter, Michelle Fry; siblings, Gene Wells, Bill Wells, Marge McKee and Shirley Varlos; brother-in-law, Wayne McKee; and an honorary daughter, Twila Dalton.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Belcher will officiate and burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
