HOWARD — Harold Joe Hofmeister, 83, of Winesap Drive, Howard, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born May 27, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Jacob and Clara (Schwab) Hofmeister. Harold was employed at Worthington Hardware in Columbus, Kreber Graphics in Columbus, and retired from Rockwell International in Columbus in 1989. He was a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church, the Colonial Hills Civic Association, Moose Lodge, lifetime member of AMVETS and the Oakland Park Conservation Club. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, conservation and photography. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-52.

He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Patricia (Barger) Hofmeister; four sons, Curtis (Rae) Hofmeister of Pickerington, Dennis (Elizabeth) Hofmeister of Arizona, Allen (Amy) Hofmeister of Columbus, Brian Hofmeister of Columbus; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Rath of Reynoldsburg; many nieces and nephews; and loving friends and neighbors through the years.

Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, John Hofmeister; and his sister, Ginny Allen.

There will be no calling hours. A service will be scheduled at a date to be announced. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Harold J. Hofmeister.
