MOUNT VERNON — Ruth E. Ward Snow, age 90, of Mount Vernon, died peacefully Friday, June 14, 2013, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. Ruth was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Ralph E. and Frances M. (Davis) Ward, and was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. In July of 1945, Ruth married Donald A. Snow, and their marriage flourished for 54 years, until Don’s passing in 1999.
Ruth was always an active person serving as the president of the Town & Country Garden Club, Sorosis International and the Gray Ladies of which she was a charter member. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are her children, Michael (Kathryn) Snow of Alpharetta, Ga., Benjamin (Peggy) Snow of Blacklick and Lucia Snow of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Meghan Anne (Jon) Klopf and Dana Elizabeth Snow; and nephews, Nick (Metta) Kaparos, Tom (Geri) Kaparos, Ralph (Marde) Kaparos and Jim (Christie) Kaparos. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Snow; and her sister, Carolyn Kaparos.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Mount Vernon, with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
