PALMETTO, Fla. — Betty Merrick, 87, Palmetto, Fla., died June 4, 2013. Born in Mount Vernon, to Wesley and Estella (Burris) Burger. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the class of 1944. After spending time in California and Michigan, she went to Florida in 1974. She was a market researcher in Orlando conducting feasibility studies for Epcot and Universal Studios. She loved to fish and play golf. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 22 years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Garner; daughter, Virginia Pringle Wright of Palmetto; a sister, Jeanne (Robert) Spearman of Mount Vernon; and a niece, Karen (John) Holland of Mount Vernon.
Visitation will take place Friday from 3 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service following at 4 at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home.
