MOUNT VERNON — Roy N. Harrington, 86, of Seventh Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Mount Vernon, to the late David and Nancy (Dile) Harrington. Roy was employed for over 51 years at Cooper-Bessemer, where he was an Inspector in the Machine Shop. He also served as the Union President for numerous years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose here in Mount Vernon; and enjoyed fishing, hunting and feeding the deer by his home. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Marceline (Saldivas) Harrington; his daughter, Debra (David) Alberts of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Lemley; and his sister, Ruby Welker.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
