MOUNT VERNON — Katherine Ann “Kay” McDonald, 58, of Mount Vernon, passed away July 1, 2013, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born June 8, 1955, in Mount Vernon, to the late John and Mable (Hisong) Flack. Kay was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 760 in Mount Vernon. She was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and enjoyed watching Cleveland sports teams as well. She loved reading and playing games on the computer, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Another one of Kay’s hobbies was watching NASCAR and rooting for her favorite driver, Kevin Harvick.

Kay is survived by her husband, Glen McDonald; one daughter, Kelly (Dusty) Goines; one son, Art McDonald; three grandchildren, Brittany, Katherine and Thelma Hays; four brothers, Chuck (Betty) Bywaters, Phil Flack, Steve (Judy) Flack and Pat (Susan) Flack.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, J.B. and Gene Bywaters.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a service will follow beginning at noon, with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family and left at the funeral home.
