MOUNT VERNON — Joshua M. Waddell, 23, of Crystal Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

He was born July 20, 1989, in Mount Vernon, to Chris and Jody (Hicks) Waddell. Josh was employed at Pecks Janitorial where he performed floor maintenance duties. He had a big heart and would do just about anything for anyone. Josh was an animal lover, and fostered many dogs and found them good homes. His family and friends will miss his wonderful smile and his loving heart.

He is survived by his mother, Jody (Mark Eakin) Waddell of Elizabeth, W.Va.; his sister, Jessica Waddell-McKean of Mount Vernon; nieces, Jennifer and Lily McKean; nephew, Zach McKean; his longtime girlfriend, Kayla Schaade; best friends, Bryant Satta, Phillip Nieghbarger and Doug Shannon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his father, Chris Waddell; grandparents, Jim and Eunice Waddell; grandparents, J.B. and Anna Hicks; his aunt, Deb Waddell; and a cousin, Erica Davidson.

Friends may call Monday to celebrate Joshua’s life from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josh’s name may be made to Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
