MOUNT VERNON — Jean A. “Toni” Shannon, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 2, 2014, at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was born July 3, 1928, in Knox County, daughter of the late Ross and Marjorie (Frye) Wilson.

Jean had attended the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Mount Vernon, and was a former 4-H and Girl Scout leader.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Tom) McLarnan and Denise (Boyd Singer) Jones of Mount Vernon; and grandchildren, Michael (Manjola) McLarnan of Columbus and Kelly McLarnan of Roatan, Honduras.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Don Shannon; and a grandson, Timothy Shannon McLarnan.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, in the Mound View Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt and grateful appreciation to Dr. William Elder and the staff of Country Court Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Jean.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
