MASSILLON — Verna “Susie” Bammerlin Campian, 85, of Massillon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

She was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alfred and Esther (Hinderlong) Berger. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Charles Bammerlin, Ernest Summerton and Sam Campian; a brother, Harry Berger of Mogadore; and a sister, De Etta Bauman of Louisville.

Susie was a retired teacher, a member of First United Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma, and a former member of Massillon Woman’s Club.

She is survived by son, Bob (Shirley Forsberg) Bammerlin of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Bethany Henry of Zebulon, Ga.; stepdaughters, Charlotte Beamer of Akron, Barbara Getz of Ind., Carol Sutek of North Canton, and Marsha Linquist of Kure Beach, N.C.; stepson, Ronald Campian of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Elin Bammerlin, Charles Bammerlin, Louis Henry, Eric (Christa) Henry and Alex (Melissa) Henry; and many stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Heitger Funeral Home — Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Av. N.W., Massillon 44646, with Rev. Julia Wertz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aultman Hospice, Salvation Army or First United Methodist Church in Massillon.
