GAHANNA — Barbara Ann Eyster (Harding), 75, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in her home in Gahanna, Ohio. She was born in Amity, Ohio, on Sept. 24, 1938.

A retired substitute school teacher, she graduated from Amity High School and Kent State University. She married Ralf Jerold Eyster of Fredericktown in 1963. She taught elementary school in Columbus and Fredericktown before settling in Lexington, Ohio, where she spent most of her adult life and raised her family. In Lexington, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross, her garden club, bridge group and other activities. She was most recently an active member of the Church of the Messiah hand bell choir in Westerville and the Silver Sneakers exercise group in Gahanna. Barbara loved being a grandma and mother, and enjoyed travel, playing piano, reading, hand bells, and spending time with friends and family.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Denzal and Mary (James) Harding; and her sister, Sharon Banning. Barbara is survived by her husband, Ralf; daughters, Tracy Eyster and Kelly Jo (Michael) Marks; grandsons, Elliot, Henry and Samuel Marks; sisters, Judy Penick and Kathleen Bryan; nieces and nephews; and extended family.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road (at Beecher Road), Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday.
