MOUNT VERNON — Carolyn L. Magill, 85, of Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born March 30, 1928, in Mount Vernon, to the late Earl and Emma (Elder) Hess. Carolyn previously worked for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center before moving to Burkburnett, Texas. Carolyn was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and always enjoyed a good a game of cards. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Burkburnett, Texas.

She is survived by a son, Tom (Susie) Magill of Round Rock, Texas; three daughters, Suzy (James Cochran) Davidson of Mount Vernon, Kim (Matt) Phillips of Bellville and Jacki (Steve) Daugherty of Burkburnett, Texas; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Jack Magill; a son, John Douglas Magill; and a brother, Jack Hess.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, at 5 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Mr. Ken Springer will be officiating. A private burial will be held in Mound View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
