JEFFERSON — Kathleen F. Parsons, 87, St. Rt. 307 East, Jefferson, died Tuesday afternoon at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.

She was born July 31, 1926, in Nitro, W.V., the daughter of William M. and Roena (Welker) Harmon, and has lived in the Jefferson area since 1949 coming from Poca, W.V. She was married to John F. Parsons on Sept. 18, 1044, in Charleston, W.V.

Mrs. Parsons was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church and was involved in select right to life organizations. She was devoted in her faith. She attended Morris Harvey University and received her teaching certificate and taught in one room school houses in West Virginia. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music and was an avid reader.

Survivors include 11 children, John F (Becky) Parson Jr. of Durham, Maine; Marilyn E. (Bucky) Campbell of N. Jackson; Patrick T. (Robin Cottrell) Parsons of Jefferson; Laura K. (Glenn) Rodgers of Pierpont Twp.; Joel M. (Bonnie) Parsons of Durham, Maine; Anne M. (David) Gecking of Ashtabula; Daniel M. Parsons of Jefferson; Charles M. (Jan) Parsons of Ashtabula; Eileen D. (Thomas) Gildersleeve of Mount Vernon; Nicholas A. (Robin) Parsons of Sheffield Twp.; and Steven P. (Sandy) Parsons of Macclenny, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1998; a son, James W. Parsons; and a grandson, Glenn E. Rodgers, III.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Hospice of the Western Reserve and the nurses, aides and staff at Jefferson Healthcare Center.

The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. John Sheridan officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Calasanctius Church Building Fund at the above address or the Manna Food Pantry, 89 E.
