MOUNT VERNON — William B. Peterson, 76, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Bill was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Mount Vernon, to the late Dwight and Martha (Byers) Peterson.

He was a 1955 graduate of Mount Vernon High School where he was a member of the football team. Bill was proud of being in the U.S. Marine Corp. He graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He enjoyed astronomy, history, golfing and was an expert on World War II. He loved being out in nature, hunting and fishing in his younger years. Bill was very creative and liked to work on things with his hands, he also enjoyed listening to Jazz music.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hutchison) Peterson; daughters, Wendy (Tracy) Robinson and Gretchen (Michael Bentley) Wenzel; a brother, Michael Peterson; a sister JoAnn Eddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eric Peterson; and a brother, Steve Peterson.

Calling hours will take place Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH. A private burial will take place at Liberty Chapel Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 490 City Park Avenue Suite C; Columbus, OH 43215.
