COLUMBIA, S.C. — A funeral service for Richard L. Cline will be held on Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark, where Pastor Wes Humble will officiate. Burial will follow in the Perryton Cemetery.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St.

Mr. Cline, age 70, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in Columbia, S.C., where he had made his home for several years. He was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Utica, a son of the late Furl and Ella (Scott) Cline. A lifelong farmer, he made his home and farmed in Perryton for over 30 years, had worked at Jerry Williams Excavating and Landscaping and had worked as a mechanic at Yellow Cab in Newark, retiring in 1998. For many years he and wife operated the Mayor’s Corner in West Bedford. He had a natural green thumb and enjoyed gardening and all flowers. After leaving the Perryton area, he and wife moved to Las Vegas for 11 years and then settled in Columbia.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 43 years, Patricia A. (Hupp) Cline, whom he married Sept. 3, 1970; one son, Terry Cline and his wife, Beth; two grandchildren, Amelia Louise “Milly” Cline and Patricia Madison “Maddy” Cline; one brother, James Myron (Connie) Cline of Martinsburg; many nieces and nephews; his best friend, Gerald Muston of Arizona; and his beloved dog, “Chloe”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Blackstone; and a brother, Carl Cline.
