CENTERBURG — R. Eloise Brown, 80, of Simmons Church Road, Centerburg, was carried from her home, with her family by her side, to her savior Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. She was born Sept. 26, 1933, in Mount Vernon, to the late Milo C. and Ethel B. (Morey) Walton.

Eloise was a life-long resident of Knox County. She was a member of the Milford Church of Christ, Centerburg, and the owner and operator of Eloise’s Snack Bar, and later the Heart of Ohio Restaurant in Centerburg for many years. Eloise was famous for her homemade pies.

She was a proud member of the Walton family — she loved spending time with her many cousins in Ohio and Pennsylvania whenever she had the opportunity. She is survived by her children, Sally L. (Dale) Mirise, Larry A. (Charlotte) Brown, Treasa L. Johnson, all of Centerburg and Roger W. (Regina) Brown of Deland, Fla. Also surviving are brothers, Roger N. (Evelyn) Walton of Mount Gilead and Gail E. (Becky) Morey of Centerburg. She had seven grandchildren, Shaun and Jarrod Hinton, Lafe Johnson, Daniel Blugbaugh, Jamie Billings, Emily Newsome and Curtis Mirise. She had eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Mikayla, Blake, Dawson, Clara, Nathan, Wyatt and Tori. Also surviving are two nephews and a niece.

Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. (Bill) Brown, and her parents.

Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Milford Church of Christ, 3648 Johnstown Road, Centerburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at the church, beginning at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery on New Delaware Road, Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Knox County or the Milford Church of Christ.
