MOUNT VERNON — Hazel M. Christenbury, 91, of Fry Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Clarence P. and Annie M. (Mabry) Moore Sr. Hazel attended the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene where she loved her friends in the Agape class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Terrell) Sanders of Mount Vernon; a son, Kenneth Christenbury of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ben (Heather) Sanders, Holly Marie (Ted) Fuller, April Christenbury and Adam Christenbury; nine great-grandchildren, Krista (Justin) Myatt, Lauren Sanders, Nic Sanders, Madison Brokaw, McKenna Brokaw, Caleb Fuller, Leah Fuller, Jayden Christenbury and Sammy Christenbury; a niece, Rebecca Walters; and a nephew, Shawn Moore.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Iola Jenkins; and a brother, Clarence P. Moore Jr.

The family will observe a private service in Charlotte, N.C. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Hazel M. Christenbury.
